Development Management Practice Guidance Note 5 "Towards Proactive Enforcement"

This guidance note, published in February 2008, was designed to help authorities who are seeking to introduce more proactive elements into their enforcement work to establish a consistent level of service. It therefore reflects the experience of many other planning authorities who have already moved towards a more proactive enforcement service. Given appropriate resources and a clear programme for implementing new methods of working, it is possible for all authorities to offer a proactive enforcement service.
