Concern expressed over delays by PINS with appeals

Date: 8/5/2015

The Planning Inspectorate has apologised for delays in validating planning and householder appeals. POS has expressed concern over these delays.

Bob Bennett, Chair of the POS Development Management Network, said that validation delays will affect council planning teams. "Local authorities need to manage their resources and plan for inquiries. If they don't know when planning inquiries will take place, this is not possible" he said.

David Evans, POS President, told Planning magazine that PINS should be properly resourced so that inspectors do not face excessive demands to progress inquiries without sufficient scrutiny. "Bad decisions could be made that would open the way for legal challenges," he warned.
