Anna Rose, Service Director for Planning and Transport at Milton Keynes Council, has become the new President of the Planning Officers Society.  Anna was elected at the Society's Annual General Meeting held in London on Friday 17th June 2016. Anna is the 20th President of the Society since its formation in 1997, and the third woman to be President.

At the AGM Anna stated that "my aim for the year is to promote the production of plans to secure the development that is necessary across the country. In doing this, I am encouraging local government planners to drive forward a new approach to strategic planning, being brave and bold in the advice they give to elected members. We all need to work together, across administrative boundaries, to create deliverable development plans for our areas"

Anna joined Milton Keynes Council in 2014, from Rugby BC where she had spent 7 years as Head of Planning and Culture, following 4 years leading Rugby's local plan work. Anna is a chartered town planner with over 12 years' experience in local government. Currently leading the ambitious growth agenda for Milton Keynes Council, Anna was heavily involved in the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP, chairing the Planners Forum until her move to Milton Keynes. Whilst at Rugby she led the country's first successful review of a planning service, using the systems thinking approach and she has gained a reputation for her ability to improve the customer experience.

Anna is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and formerly the Senior Vice President of the Planning Officers Society.  She is also a Trustee Director of the Society's Board and the Society's Subject Specialist for Management of Planning.
