New Homes Bonus Could be Used to Fill Infrastructure Funding Gap, Says POS

Date: 18/11/2013

In response to a report saying that there was no review of how effective the New Homes Bonus had been, Malcolm Sharp, the Society's Immediate Past President, told The Planner that whilst the Society "had no particular stance on NHB what was important was that LPAs promoting growth could get support for vital infrastructure."

Sharp added that there was generally huge funding gaps which could not be made up by either CIL or s106 and LPAs had the option to use NHB in this way.  "If NHB didn't exist other ways of supporting growth would need to be found notwithsatnding whether it was the most effective mechanism."
