POS Manifesto is Expanded with Launch of Infrastructure Paper

Date: 19/3/2015

The Planning Officers Society (POS) has been looking ahead to the general election in May 2015.  POS has been looking at what it can do to help the main parties.

POS has produced "Planning for a Better Future". The first part - an evolutionary approach to improving local plans - was used in discussions with the main parties. The second part - funding infrastructure in a more effective way - has now been released.

Mike Kiely, Chair of POS, said  at the launch of the paper "The two main political parties have indicated that they intend to look again at the way infrastructure is funded through the planning system and are considering reviewing CIL. POS has been working with the BPF and HBF over recent months and pulled together a set of proposals in this paper which we believe have the potential to address the issues that have been raised."

Kiely added "We look forward to working with the new government after 7 May to ensure that our planning system is able to deliver the infrastructure that is necessary to support the development that the nation needs."
