POS supports the reuse of public sector land and buildings when it is appropriate and sustainable

Date: 7/10/2015

A renewed push to dispose of surplus public land could involve further potential planning changes.

Steve Ingram, the Society's Junior Vice-President, told Planning magazine that the Society supports the reuse of public sector land and buildings when it is appropriate and sustainable. But he cautioned that appropriate checks and balances would have to be built into any new system to prevent substandard development.

"If the government is proposing to put in place new mechanisms to fast-track such proposals, POS would want to work with them proactively to ensure that the related planning processes are fair and equitable and that they will still deliver high-quality outcomes," he said.
