Planning Officers Walk a Narrow Line, Says POS

Date: 10/2/2015

Officers are looking at the wider implications of the recent tribunal decision to order the disclosure of financial details behind LB Greenwich's decision to allow a reduction in the numbers of affordable homes in a Greenwich Peninsula redevelopment.

Speaking to a Planning magazine reporter John Silvester, former POS President and current Communications Manager, said "Planning officers walk a narrow line when considering what commercially sensitive detail they need to disclose to support the argument without straying into the territory of 'trade secrets'".

Silvester added, "In such circumstances they'd probably be wise to seek legal advice as to what level of detail is sufficient in the particular circumstances. But even so lawyers may well err on the side of caution in the first instance."
