Publicly owned sites released for development must be subject to prior discussion and agreement with the LPA

Date: 15/1/2016

Five publicly owned sites are to be packaged for small builders as part of the government's plans to directly commision firms to build new homes on stalled brownfield sites with planning permission already in place.

POS Communications Manager John Silvester told Planning magazine that the pilot sites were inevitably in line for development, but questioned whether they would be built out in the way envisaged in their respective local plans.

"it is vital that any future sites are the subject of in-depth discussion with the local authoriity prior to any announcements, and have the necessary infrastructure requirements agreed and funded up front," he said.
