What could Brexit could mean for public procurement?

Date: 6/7/2016

Last month's referendum result has raised queries over the future of procurement legislation, which is derived from a suite of European Union directives  adopted in 2014.

Mike Kiely, Chair of the Planning Officers Society's Board of Trustees, suggested to a Planning magazine reporter that the only way the rules may be changed is by no longer requiring firms to tender across the whole EU for projects.

"But you would still have a similar process in place in the UK," he said. "The government is not going to want public money spent in anything other than an open and transparent manner."
