Five year land supply figures improving

Date: 15/6/2017

Planning magazine reports that the number of councils failing to show a five-year housing land supply in appeals has dropped slightly, but some local planning authorities face major delivery obstacles.

Catriona Riddell, the Strategic Planning Subject Specilaist for POS, told a reporter that an increase in the rate of publication of locl plans has been a key factor in improving councils' ability to show a five-year land supply at appeal.

"The government's 'early 2017' deadline for local plan production cracked the whip, but now it has passed a lot of councils may pause progress on bringing forward new draft or submission plans until they see how the next wave of planning reform shapes up," she said.
