In its formal response to the findings of the Local Panel Expert Group (LPEG) POS states that it whole-heartedly supports future work in this area and looks forward to continuing to input into this work.
The Society strongly welcomes the report as a whole. It has provided some constructive comments to some of the recommendations laid out in Appendix A of the main document, in order to enable the recommendations to be developed into legislative, procedural and policy changes to this vitally important area of the planning system.
The Society understands that some of the details need further consideration as to how they would work in practice and, as the Society represents planning in the public sector, it would clearly want to be included in the Technical Working Group because of the extensive experience and insight that it can offer.
Sara Whelan, the Society's Policy Officer, commented that Stewart Murray, the current POS President and Mike Kiely, Chair of the POS Board, met with two representatives of the group throughout the call for evidence. "We found this to be a very beneficial session and Stewart Murray, Mike Kiely and Anna Rose, (Senior Vice President and POS President from June 2016 onwards) would be very keen to be involved in continuing to move this work forward" she said.
