Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has unveiled new planning guidance for councils to consider when determining planning applications for new schools. The ministerial statement made earlier in the week must now be taken into account as a material consideration when considering school applications.
John Silvester told Planning magazine "POS is keen to support local communities having a say over their own future but would want proposals for schools to be in accord with local and neighbourhood plans, otherwise issues such as infrastructure provision and traffic management could be totally ignored."
