Site Selection and Delivery is Proving the Biggest Stumbling Block in Identifying Need for Gypsy and Traveller Provision, Says POS

Date: 27/8/2013

Whilst many local authorities are gettig on with identifying need for gypsy and traveller provision "the biggest stumbling block is site selection and delivery" Catriona Riddell told Planning magazine.

Riddell, the Society's Strategic Planning Topic Forum Convenor, added "as most gypsy and traveller provision is around the main cities, Eric Pickles' recent hardening up on provision in the green belt is not helpful and will make the task much more difficult."

POS accepts that this is a very difficult process technically and different from any other issue most planners have to deal with; and thus is proving very challenging.
