Strong case for local fee setting

Date: 5/6/2015

Responding to a Planning magazine reporter, regarding the new research by PAS that shows a huge funding gap between fee income and the cost of processing planning applications, John Silvester, Communications Manager for POS, said " We have been campaigning for years to get local fee setting, and this survey evidence reinforces our resolve to keep on trying."

Mike Kiely, POS Chair, commented that the PAS research provides a strong case for realigning fees at a time when local authorities face renewed funding pressure. "Introducing a national average cost recovery model with an automatic rise for inflation seems likely to be the most acceptable route" he said.
