Planning Officers Society Welcomes End to Crown Immunity

The Planning Officers Society is pleased that at long last the government has announced its intention to put an end to Crown immunity from planning regulations.

POS President Graham Jones said “several years ago when the Planning Green paper was launched the Society advocated that the Crown should no longer be exempt from planning rules, we welcome this step forward and trust the new procedures will be in place shortly.”

POS is, however, examining the draft circular recently issued by the ODPM to ensure that it tells local planning authorities everything they need to know and whether   more guidance   is required on certain topics or indeed whether there are areas not covered at all.
