DEFRA MARINE POLICY STATEMENT WORKSHOP

DEFRA INNOVATION CENTRE, READING

1. I attended this DEFRA workshop on behalf of the RTPI and the Planning Officers' Society. Around 60 people attended, from a wide range of organisations with an interest in marine spatial planning. These included representatives from Scotland and Wales.

2. The purpose of the workshop was for DEFRA and others to gain a better understanding of the marine planning process. The outcome of this and other workshops would inform the preparation of a Marine Policy Statement, which would be published later this year.
