1 BREAKING NEWS .........

... POS has initiated a review of planning rules and procedures in an attempt to influence the newGovernment with its  stated aim of cutting red tape.

As you will know, the Government is looking for ways to reduce the burden of regulation, both on local authorities (see Grant Shapps' letter to Chief Executives dated 28 May) and the business community (Vince Cable's new Cabinet Committee). The South East Region of POS discussed this at their meeting on 18 June, and agreed that it would be a good idea for the Society to take the initiative and suggest to the Government areas of planning for deregulation.

Accordingly Cabinet agreed that a rapid Deregulation Review be undertaken and an initial note has been prepared (see the note on the website at: http://www.planningofficers.org.uk/file/d549e068f4a4d7ae000d70b47c866815/deregulationreview.html ) and if you have any contributions to make please contact stuart.hylton@rbwm.gov.uk  by Monday 12th July.
