Dear Chief Planner

Chief Planning Officers in London: Joint CLG/POS event

We are writing to invite you to lunchtime London Chief Planners event that has been organised by the Planning Officers Society and supported by CLG.

This event will take place on:

Thursday 10th March
Between: 12 noon and 1.30pm
At:  Eland House, Bressenden Place, Victoria
(A sandwich lunch and refreshments will be provided)

The purpose of the event is to introduce the Planning Officers Society (POS) to those amongst you who are not yet members and also to meet with, hear from and exchange opinions with the CLG Chief Planner, Steve Quartermain.

POS represents the most senior professionals and managers of planning functions in the English Local Authorities.  Our aim is to ensure that planning makes a major contribution to achieving sustainable developments in ways which are fair, equitable and achieve the social economic and environmental aspirations of all sectors of the community. The Society is highly regarded and its strength is from its membership. A comprehensive coverage across England is our objective and support and involvement from London Planners is critical to achieving this
CLG is keen to encourage strong regional Local Authority planning representation through organisations such as POS. It would be our intention to use such an organisation as one of the routes through which we can communicate effectively with senior local authority planning representatives in the future. If this event proves successful CLG will consider working with POS to hold similar annual or biannual events.

I do hope that you can attend. It would be excellent to get representation from all 32 boroughs and the City of London. If you are unable to attend then please do send a deputy.

For security reasons and to help out with catering can you please let susan.peart@communities.gsi.gov.uk  know who will be attending from your borough before the event.
