Design & Delivery

What is the Design and Delivery Committee responsible for?
The Design and Delivery Committee (DDC) leads on planning matters associated with design in the built environment including:
-
urban design and building design quality
-
the historic environment – conservation areas, listed buildings and archaeology
-
greenspace, parks and gardens
-
regeneration/implementation
-
public art and culture
-
tourism.
The DDC has four priorities :
- to engage with governmental departments, bodies and agencies including CLG, DCMS, DEFRA, English Heritage, English Partnerships, Natural England and CABE, responding to consultation on matters relating to Design and Delivery, and preparing responses on behalf of the Society, principally through the LGA and other local government organisations as appropriate
- To contribute to the development of policy, best practice and delivery in conjunction with other professional and local authority bodies including, RTPI, RIBA, RICS, ALGAO, IHBC, UDAL, EHTF ,
- To act as an expert group of local authority professionals, to exchange information and provide advice to public sector Planners to enable them to improve the delivery of services relating to Design and Delivery in the built environment
- To develop as a Committee, increasing core membership with skills across a range of topics, and to plan events and activities to sustain interest in the work of the Committee
The Committee’s remit particularly lends itself to site visits, generally afternoon events - following routine business - normally comprise a walkabout, taking in the best of urban design and conservation projects.
