Minerals & Waste

Who Are the Members?

The 26 members of the Group are drawn from Shire Counties, National Park, Metropolitan and Unitary Authorities in England and Wales.

Our present Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary are as follows:-

  • Chairman: Andrew Price (Dorset County Council)
  • Vice-Chairman: Martin Hooker (Bridgend County Borough Council)
  • Secretary: Paul Wilcox (Staffordshire County Council)

What Does it Do?

The Minerals and Waste Committee advises and represents the Society on policy and practice relating to minerals and waste planning issues.

The Group liaises with and seeks to influence Government, the Local Government Association and other bodies at national, regional and local level on the development and formulation of policy and best practice for Minerals and Waste Planning Authorities.

We also prepare and disseminate good practice on the delivery of minerals and waste planning services to all local authorities in England and Wales.

For more details of what we do and what we are doing this year look at our current Business Plan.
