NOVUS is Latin for new or young. We represent the new generation of voices in public planning. We are the ginger group of the Planning Officers Society. We are a think tank and network for public planning, by public planners.
NOVUS is open to public servants across England who are at the earlier stages of a career in planning and the built environment. Members do not necessarily need to be planners, or under a certain age, but do need to have an email ending in gov.uk. You can join NOVUS by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOVUS aims to meet four times a year and these are members-only events. Events take the form of debates, social and NOVUS session. At NOVUS Sessions, topics are proposed by members, who host half day sessions involving leaders in the field of public planning. NOVUS sessions are no talking shops. The events take on the elephants in the room of the planning establishment. We use each session to collaboratively draft a paper – literally one side of A4 – that sets out our position. We aim to be positive, pragmatic and provocative. Send suggestions for future sessions to email@example.com. For the latest NOVUS session see our Events calendar.
