POS has published the final draft of our response to the Government’s consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework (closing 10 March 2026). The draft reflects feedback from members and POS subject specialists.

 

We broadly welcome the new approach, particularly the introduction of National Development Management Policies (NDMPs). However, we have identified several areas where the framework could be strengthened to better support local planning authorities. Our detailed comments and suggested amendments are set out against the relevant consultation questions.

This draft has been shared with MHCLG to provide them with early sight of our position. A final version will be submitted following the Spatial Planning Network meeting on 6 March.
