This regional event will explore one of the North West's most ambitious town centre regeneration programmes - the transformation of The Strand in Bootle.
POS members will have the opportunity to engage directly with Sefton Council's planning and regeneration team, who will provide a practitioner-level walkthrough of the projects reshaping Bootle's care, such as the exciting Salt and Tar events space.
The session will examine how Sefton is aligning regeneration delivery with wider corporate priorities, responding to viability challenges, embedding climate resilience, and working with partners to secure long-term place outcomes.
Attendees will gain insight into:
- the strategic planning framework underpinning The Strand's regeneration
- how Sefton is sequencing interventions and managing delivery risk
- approaches to community engageme nt and inclusive place-making
- lessons for authorities grappling with ageing retain centres and complex land assembly
- the role of planning in shaping investment confidence and narrative change
The event will conclude with a guided walking tour after lunch.
